If napping was a sport, I'd be qualifying for the Olympics

Apparently it rains a lot here in April. I’ve been feeling unusually tired and the mom tells me it’s the weather. I come from class and just pass out until dinner time. Its great. It’s a change of pace from my typical run-run-run-run-run schedule back at home. I have so much free time I have no idea what to do. (Mom and dad who are reading this, are saying to themselves, uh you could study!) Im worried about this upcoming weekend cause my family just told me they are going to the lake, so I really will have to totally entertain myself.
Last week I had another visitor. A friend of mine from college who graduated two years ago and who has been doing graduate work abroad came to Italy with her boyfriend. They came to Padova for an evening and I got to meet the boy and eat some pizza. (ps. Becky – your boy is great and total keeper!) The only thing I forgot to do was take a picture! Its always good having people from home stop by. Plus I love showing Padova off.
On Saturday I sat all day with some friends in the Pratto to study a bit and eat lunch. It was gorgeous. However I returned home pink and I was reminded that the one thing I did not buy before coming here was sun screen.
Yesterday I went into Venice with Stefano and he took me to the Guggenheim museum. It was so nice to see modern art for a change. Sometimes I feel like if I have to look at another religious fresco I might scream. Plus there were two Kandiskys and he is my all-time favorite. Stefano is not the art type but he was nice and let me tell him about the artists I knew. (Dad- you would’ve really liked this one painting by Umberto Boccioni called “Dynamism of a cyclist”. It is so similar to that one in the MOMA by Kandisky with the soccer player. Upon further inspection it is the same concept too. Anyway you should look it up.) Then I literally ran into a girl I went to junior high with on the street. It was so bizarre. I’m almost surprised we even recognized each other.
I finally finished my other mid-term so I am footloose and fancy free for the week. We are going to house of Petrarch tomorrow. I have no idea what that will be like, all I know is that its means free lunch and no class. Then this weekend, I think my Italian professor is taking us to a soccer game in Verona. Im so excited. I love sporting events and soccer in Italy is of course larger than life.
Well that’s all for now… except my shameless plug for Student Assembly presidential elections which are tomorrow. Don’t forget to vote! (And you should also vote next week for the rest of the Assembly positions.)
