Today the world loves me

I decide that after my week Im soo exhausted and Im just going to go to bed and not do my homework. I come to the center this morning to find out that all classes have been canceled cause there are pluming problems. Conclusion: the world loves me today. Ok here is my spring break re-cap. (Part I)

Prague
The first day in Prague a friend and I went into a Pub while we were waiting for our friends to have a beer. We ended up making friends with the bartender – Chris. About three years ago, his plane got delayed on his way back home to Scotland and he had a layover here. He decided to stay permanently. This was recurring theme of people we met. We must have met at least a dozen Americans running businesses who came to Prague for vacation, liked what they saw, and just stayed. It was tempting to me too. Anyway, Chris ended up being our best friend for our visit. We would go to Fat Boys (name of the bar) almost everyday for hot chocolate or beer – depending on the time. Then he also worked at this other bar called the Red Room that his friend has just opened so at night we would go there and make more friends.
I was cursed and sick pretty much the whole trip. For two days I actually lost my voice. Christina fixed me this concoction of honey and ginger that I took a few teaspoons of every day. The first night in Prague, Chris took pity on me and fixed me a drink for my throat with whiskey, lemon, honey and hot water. Its that classic drink you hear about for a cold, but it definitely works.
On Easter Sunday we went to a Mass in Latin in this beautiful church in our neighborhood.
The other thing we did a lot of on our break was read. We ran into a bookstore (cause Jess had to do some poetry stuff for her fellowship) and ended up buying several books. Jess was trying to get me to read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I did and I loved it. Ended up buying a few other of his books too. I also read the Kite Runner cause I’d been meaning to read it for a while. I also liked it too. Cried. Oh I miss books. I really cant find the time to read while at college. Though last semester I decided to try and ended up reading more books for fun in replace of the ones I needed to read for class. Anyway, it was great to read 2.5 books this week.
The funniest part about Prague was trying to get to the castle. We were planning on going everyday and then something would come up. We finally made it on Monday, to find that it was closed. We made it the next day though before we left. However, it was snowing that day so it was so gross and so cold. I think it was really too cold for me to really enjoy all the sights. I was more interested in getting back home or finding some place inside to go get warm.
The real downer in Prague was leaving my camera case and extra battery at the castle. Apparently everyone else in my group had spotted it and had even asked if it belonged to anyone. I was deaf for the whole exchange and asked my friends if they had seen it once in Budapest. Oh well. I rarely use the case anyway. The extra battery is sad, but my camera is getting on its last legs anyway so Im going to have to buy a new camera after college if not sooner.
