If you are also a student abroad then maybe this number also has some significance for you. Its the exchange rate and the reason I want to cry. What a terrible time to be an American abroad. Im seriously considering getting a job here under the table.
UGH.
Anyway, Ive been terrible about blogging. My friend Jess arrived on Monday night and weve had a total blast in Italy this past week. On Tuesday I skipped my one class and we gallivanted off to Venice for the day. It was great. We even got a gondola ride where the guy sang to us and tried to convince us afterwards to go with him to eat spaghetti. My favorite part of the day was obviously the art exhibit. We stumbled upon a Titian exhibit. I think he is probably my favorite artist of that time period. Oh it made me soooo happy. I could live in an art museum. On Wednesday, my family was so kind and had Jess over for dinner. Jess is the first person to see my house and meet my family so I had a good time showing them off. In addition, Jess of course got to meet my friends here. She was kinda my little wind up toy cause I kept putting her on display and making her recite her poetry for us. Shes so good.
Right now I am currently in Prague. As it turns out, Jess was heading that direction anyway, so she ended up joining me and three of my friends for our spring break. I've only been in Prague for a few hours so Ill reserve my opinions. The currency is crazy and so like our grocery bill was like 1,634 ...but thats only a few Euros each. I have to keep reminded myself that. Its weird being in another country where you cant speak the language at all. I have NO idea what the signs say. In places like Spain or France or Italy I atleast have some clue. Our apartment is great, and it comes with a tour of the town which we will take tomorrow. We are also thinking of taking a tour of the castle, a walking pub crawl, and a boat tour. We get really great deals through our apartment company.
We will obviously be spending Easter Sunday here and its apparently quite a deal. We were researching online and found out all of these crazy traditions. Ill say more once Ive seen them, but they involve men running through the town with hand made whips and whipping all the woman in town in exchange for colored eggs and shots of liquor....we clearly picked the right country.
Promise to tell more later. After Prague its Budapest and then back to Italy where I think my program is half way over. I would KILL to stay.
