I’ve been in denial for a long time. It just hasn’t really occurred me that Im in another country. I knew one day I’d be walking along “cosi” and it would just hit me. It did. Im walking back from lunch with a few girls and all of sudden it dawns on me…Oh my god, I’m in Italy! I think Ive just been so go go go and overwhelmed constantly by new things and new sights that I hadn’t had the time to just breathe and let myself catch up. It’s so cool to be here. I can’t say it any more flowery than that.
In other news, I had to buy a new phone. Im so pissed. Everyone on my program who bought this phone has had to get a new one. They all died. Like I cant read text messages. Sometimes I can’t access my contacts. I also couldn’t add new contacts. After two weeks I decided I’d had enough. Basta! The warranty in Italy is non existent. They take away your phone for at least 3 weeks and if they can fix it, then great, if not then you might get a slight discount to buy a new phone. I can’t be without a phone for three weeks, so I just bought a new one. Plus I just got into the summer program here and so my stay might be longer. I would like a functioning phone.
Yes you read correctly. I might stay here for the summer. BU has a summer program until the end of July. I’d take two other Italian courses and spend 6 more weeks in Padova. I don’t need to course credit, but it seems like staying a bit longer would be the best way to solidify my language skills. Besides, I don’t have a job for July anyway and not many employers want to hire for just 6 weeks. So the choice is either come home and be a bum—or stay in Europe.
Last night I went to see No Country for Old Men…in Italian. Italy apparently is one of the best countries to see dubbed movies. It was a little hard to understand, again my Italian is not the best, but my friend Henry would occasionally lean over and explain major pieces which was crucial to my enjoyment and comprehension. Then I went to Erbe for spritz. (HH I cannot wait to take you to this one bar). Then I came home to find out that I was locked out. There are two locks on our door and they locked the second one last night by error. Luckily was not really drunk and it was only 1 am. Still I was very embarrassed to have to call my host dad’s cell phone, wake him up and explain that I was outside and have him come down in his pajamas to let me in.
I am planning to cook for my family one night. I love to cook. I have no idea what to cook for them though. The boys are kinda picky eaters. Please leave any and all suggestions below.
Ok that’s it for now. Off to drink and speak Italian.

Well well well, I may be in Italy this summer as well (Rome, though). Keep me posted if you'll be around!
