Snap back to Reality

Being here is like living in an alternate universe. I forget about the outside world and “life” back at home and at college. Then there are things that remind me. Like the emails about housing proxies, or the email about the honors thesis. It’s a rude awakening to realize that while I’m here enjoying myself I need to also think about my senior thesis, pick an advisor, and write up a 3 page proposal in the next three weeks. Thanks a lot real world!
Anyway, back in dream-world the streets as usual are filled with love. Valentine’s Day is big here. (And I’m not soley referring to the couple that took forever purchase train tickets in front of me because they were exchanging saliva) The streets in Verona had hearts draped across them, and so many stores in Padova have elaborate heart themes. The window displays on the lingerie stores are by far the most entertaining. There are so many lingerie stores around here. I must pass at least 8 on my short walk to school alone. Oh, and shoe stores. There are more than 20 on my walk to school. So basically Im going to come back with great high heels and lingerie.
Anyway, to celebrate Valentines Day and the fact that we are all bitterly alone without hot Italian lovers, my group of friends and I are doing Secret Lovers (basically like Secret Santa – you draw names, have to spend 5 euros and make a card for Thursday). I’m really excited about the name I drew. This person has quite a since of humor and Im eager to go shopping this afternoon in search of the perfect gift.
